Banreservas will present various proposals at Fitur 2024 to boost tourism investment in the Dominican Republic
Banco de Reservas will participate in the Fitur 2024 International Tourism Fair, to be held in Madrid from January 24 to 28, with a series of proposals aimed at promoting development and investment in the Dominican Republic. The delegation, led by the banking institution's general manager, Samuel Pereyra, has scheduled several rounds of business meetings with investors linked to the sector, which will take place both inside and outside the Ifema fairgrounds. The Punta Bergantín project in Puerto Plata and those aimed at developing the tourist centers of Miches and Pedernales will be among the proposals highlighted by Banreservas, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism. Regarding Punta Bergantín, construction of the first two hotels will begin this year, to be developed by the Spanish-owned Martinón Group. Both are in the design phase and will involve an estimated investment of over $180 million. According to preliminary negotiations, the two hotels will operate under the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands. Banreservas will also prioritize supporting investment in the Miches Tourism Hub, where new projects are planned for over $735 million in public and private investment, according to estimates announced at Fitur 2023.
Tribute to Dominicanity
As part of the Fitur 2024 agenda, Banreservas will also pay "Tribute to Dominican Culture" during its traditional cocktail reception for investors, tour operators, and special guests involved in this sector, one of the country's main foreign exchange earners. Every year, in addition to its extensive business agenda linked to tourism investment in the country, the financial institution conducts activities aimed at promoting Dominican culture and heritage within the framework of Fitur, where more than 8,500 exhibiting companies and more than 136,000 professionals are expected to participate this year, according to statistics published on the International Fair's website.
