The American Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (AMCHAMDR) held a Business Lunch in the city of Puerto Plata, with the participation of Andres Marranzini, director of the Punta Bergantín Trust, as a guest speaker and guest of honour. The event brought together business figures, local authorities and leaders of the region's tourism sector.

In his presentation entitled “Punta Bergantín: Promoting the Tourism and Socioeconomic Development of Puerto Plata”, Marranzini shared a detailed vision of how the project seeks to transform the northern region of the country into a world-class tourist destination. He highlighted that Punta Bergantín is not only a real estate and hotel project, but a comprehensive initiative that combines Innovation, sustainability and community engagement.

Marranzini assured that the project will not only attract high-level tourism, but also strengthen local communities and generate employment opportunities, highlighting that Punta Bergantín includes the construction of 4,000 hotel rooms, the integration of renowned North American hotel brands and the creation of a Innovation District, which will position the region as a key center for investment in Technology and entrepreneurship. In addition, a public and private beach club, a world class golf club, and a film studio, which will attract both tourists and international companies, diversifying the local economy.

“MARRANZINI APPOINTMENT,” said Marranzini.

One of the aspects highlighted by the director of the trust was the impact that Punta Bergantín will have on job creation and the development of local capacities. It is projected that the project will create more than 1,300 direct jobs and thousands of indirect jobs, driving the growth of the local economy in sectors such as construction, hospitality, entertainment and technology.

Marranzini also highlighted that the project has a solid strategy for the productive chain, benefiting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local suppliers. “We want this project to be seen not only as a tourist development, but as a development engine for the entire northern region, where local actors play an active role in the tourism value chain,” he added.

Punta Bergantín has been designed with a strong focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations, seeking to promote gender equality, generate decent jobs and ensure the economic well-being of local communities. Marranzini stressed the project's commitment to the social inclusion and the quality education, particularly in the municipality of Villa Montellano, where technical and professional training programs will be implemented in collaboration with educational institutions.
